Too impatient to wait!

Hi all.

I'm waiting to get my free range chickens fenced in before I start my new veg plot. There are veg seed I can sow now, as recommended by this site....could I start them in pots do you think and then plant them out?

  • Yes, but it is getting a bit late to start veg. off from seed. Read the back of the packets, there are some main crop peas and carrots which you might get away with.

Thanks...Will have a go....I suppose if I fail I can use the left over seed at a better time.

It's a good time to sow oriental salad veg, mustard leaves, pak choi, that sort of thing ... they don't bolt as readily if sown after midsummer.  You can start them off in pots and plant them out as soon as the chooks are under control  :)
