Hello fellow Gardeners,
I'm pretty new to gardening - but am into my 2nd year in my first ever Garden & am now slowly getting it in shape.. I inherited an ivy covered, West-facing, alkaline soil garden (along with some ground elder) but not a lot else plant-wise - after a LOT of digging (and discovering a very old car buried in one of the flower beds!).. I've planted some roses and camilias along with a Polygala (help on what to do with this over winter would be greatly received) ..along with creating a veggie plot - which I'm experimenting with..
I'd like to add some flowering shrubs - I saw this plant in someones garden whilst out walking & I love it but don't know what it is - or even if it is a shrub..
Can anyone identify it for me so I know what to ask for at the garden centre.
We also have this plant which I didn't remove as the bees seem to love it.. Can anyone tell me what it is?

With Polygala, it's best to plant against a warm wall if possible. If not, and you are not in a mild part of the UK, plant in a large pot and cover with fleece in the colder nights in winter. They are quite hardy. Free draining soil is best.
