HEBE ID's PLEASE

harmonyharmony Posts: 403
Hi,  i've had these 2 Hebe's in pots for the last 2 years and want to transplant them into my garden in the autumn but i've forgotten what type they are. The one in the brown pot is just starting to flower and the one in the green pot has not flowered at all yet. And any more info on Hebe's will be appreciated. Thanks..

Not sure on the top one because there are so many and like roses, can be hard to identify. The second one, I have seen quite often in the garden centres, it could be Heartbreaker.

Keep your pots in sunny position and make sure the soil is free draining. After flowering, trim back lightly to tidy up. If you don't do this, they grow more sparse and eventually less flowering. Never prune hard into old woody stems, you will find the plant loses shape and take ages to recover. In some cases, they never recover.

Usually undemanding, but if you decide to keep in a pot, general purpose fertiliser will help them and top dress with fresh compost every year.

Hebe Great Orme for the first one?

I have one in the garden, flowers just barely forming but it's certainly similar at the very least.

Yes the second one is probably Heartbreaker but could be Rhubarb and Custard.
I lost my heartbreaker (in a pot) one hard winter.
Rhubarb an Custard is in the ground and came through this past winter ok.
It was a bit straggly but when I saw new growth I trimmed and shaped it back to the new stuff, gave it a feed and it's going great.
