Plant I.D. Please

Hi. Could someone please confirm what these are please and let me know if they can be pruned hard back. The yellow one is messy and offending me.

    They look like perennial wallflowers. The top one, Bowle's Mauve. Yes, you can but them back.

    Yes, you can cut them back quite hard ... they usually respond well to this ... however I usually take a few cuttings at the same time, just as an insurance policy. 

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
