Slimeballs

Will this prolonged dry heat be killing off slugs?  Or are they just hiding in shady nooks, to reappear in rampaging hoards as soon as there's some rain?  I know snails can withstand drought because they can seal the opening of their shells, but they must have to come out and feed, mustn't they?

    Unfortunately they are just hiding and when the weather breaks they will come out in full force, 😱😱😱

    Lift up the collapsed foliage on herbaceous plants and you will find your missing molluscs.

    The snails here are getting a hammering (literally) from the thrushes. I think they've grouped up in damp places and are too easy to find. There's broken shells piling up all over the place.
    If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
