Making glyphosate paste?

Yes indeed. Don't use a watering can or a garden bucket to do the mixing in. Many moons ago I mixed up some patio weed killer and forgot to wash out the watering can properly after. Doh.

I would even go so far as say - throw out the bucket or whatever after use. Just to be safe. Or keep it for next time, with a Very Large Label on it.

Thanks everyone - that makes sense. Lots of food for thought. I will certainly try training it up canes - preferable to unwinding it from rose stems (ouch!). I think it's going to be a long job, but as you suggest I am focusing on making headway in a few areas at a time while trying not to lose ground elsewhere (though I am starting to think that, with bindweed, if you aren't actively winning then you are losing!). Hopefully the rose garden will soon be clear - my priority because of the unholy combination of twining and thorns - and then I can very carefully try some of your tips in my long mixed border. Thanks again!

In my garden and next doors, there is usually one or two plants that spread like crazy. You might find that if you put glyphosate on some, the whole thing will disappear. Be sure to take off any flowers you spot.
