What to do with pond weed from stream?

we have a small brook running through our garden, which now has an amount of green pond weed in the brook. Can this be reused?
any help would be gratefully received.

Can you identify it?  If not, post a photo of the whole plant, and a closeup of the leaves, and flowers if any, and we'll see if we can.

When I have allowed the pond weed in our wild life pond (grows too well) to dry out on the pond edge, it all goes on the compost heap.
  • My pond weed is rampant in this hot weather I pull it out onto bank leave it a couple of days to let creatures get back into the pond then compost it.

    Composed for me as well.

Yes, compost, but be careful just now. I took some weed out of my pond, inspecting every strand for tiny frogs and toads, who are waiting for rain to leave the pond. I left the weed on the edge, as recommended, but when I went to collect it I found a gang of the little pests had climbed out to explore under it and I had to spend ages rescuing them a second time!
