What's eating my Campanula?

Hi

I planted three white Campanula plants and in less than a week most of the petals have disappeared.

Before this three Senetti Violets in the same place went the same way.

We do have rabbits but sometimes the petals have small holes in the middle and presume rabbits will eat from the edge.  We've sprayed all around with peppermint and cayenne to try and keep them off a week ago (not seen any since). Plus we've sprinkled bone meal around which they don't like apparently.
We've also put mulch all around to try and fend off slugs and snails (No obvious evidence of them).

Can anyone help as these three spots seem to be jinxed!

Thanks in advance.

Slugs do love campanula. Go out at night with a torch: if it is slugs you will see them. Rabbits are more of a problem. The cayenne is very cruel, I'd recommend something else. A terrier or a cat is a long term solution.

Didn't realise the cayenne was cruel - was purposely trying to use it as a natural deterrent rather than using anything toxic.

Can't get a dog or cat just to save my flowers!

That's true. You can end up with a fortress rather than a garden! Rabbit fencing, butterfly netting, slug barriers.... It's not easy but you need to identify your assailants first.

we have no trouble with slugs/snails and campanula.  echinacea maybe a decoy, they enjoy them.
