Cutting off about 10' of fastigate yew

Can you advise if it is ok to lop off a good amount from the top of my yew and if so when? It is now about 30' and needs scaling down

if its a fastigate yew then it will take a long time to 'look right' after a severe lopping, you might want to reduce the sides down at the same time, luckily yew will come back from brown wood unlike most conifers
