Mowing the Lawn ?

I’m getting conflicting advice about mowing my lawn. It’s very dry, starting to go brown around the edges and in patches, but the green bits are quite long
my instinct is to leave it, but should I ?

I'm leaving mine ... what little growth there is will help prevent the roots from being fried.

I mowed mine yesterday on the highest setting - for no other reason other than what there is of my lawn that isn't brown has produced long seed heads over the last couple of weeks, I needed to get rid of them before they drop and blow into the flower borders.
No rain here since mid May

Mine just doesn't seem to be growing at all at the moment,  is it something else we can blame on the hot,  dry weather?

  • Agreed, I'm going to mow mine either tonight or tomorrow (depends when it's dried off) but on highest setting and just to get rid of the seed heads and longer straggly bits.  No rain here either for almost a month so mine is pretty much dormant and brown too except in a few areas and hasn't grown much in the last couple of weeks. We have had almost two inches this morning though so that might kick start it this week!

Would probably be a good idea to mow high and just to neaten up any straggly bits, don't leave it too long or you'll wind up with cutting too much off the bits that are still growing and cause them to suffer.

Keep mowing to clip the weeds.  Grass is staying low anyway
