What a wonderful combination, Busy-Lizzie, of the pastoral, the eternal and the religious. I imagine it was a restorative experience. As for the "stuff", I've always been one of those who gets a small memento of visited places. For me, they are a tactile form of precious memories/experiences and, of course, people have to make a living!
Week-end business trip for me in Lyon, catering exhibition. I was in the exhibition halls all day but did escape in the evening to enjoy dinner and a few glasses of wine in the old town. Very lovely.
