Citrus tree

Hello there! My boyfriend planted some seeds of lemon tree and it started to sprout! We are very happy about it, but we are not sure how to take care of it. When it will be bigger need we change its pot to bigger? What type of soil is good? What about watering? Every tip will be important for us!

Hi gutterpress. You can buy specific citrus compost at most good Garden Centres so that is the one to look for.

Pinch out the tip when it is about 6 to 8 inches high to make it branch.  Repot it once a year(Spring) in citrus compost . Use a pot slightly larger each year and top up with fresh compost.  Use a citrus feed (baby bio do one ) in summer. It will like to be outside in a sunny position in summer. In winter it needs to be frost free, but indoors against a radiator it will drop all its leaves.  An unheated conservatory, or porch, with it up against a wall is usually fine in winter. Keep it well watered in summer, but only just damp in winter.
