According to the Met Office, it will be another ten days before anywhere but the very tip of Cornwall sees any significant rain.

That should do it @derbyduck, so long as it’s quite loosely woven and let’s some light in as well!

We look after several large gardens owned by private farming companies ; all are seriously worried now about this seemingly endless dry-spell .
Various crops are being badly affected , especially peas apparently ;(stock up your freezers)!!
We currently (E.Lincs) have cooling but very drying winds ; my four water butts are empty and I am somewhat guiltily using the hose-pipe , but only for recent plantings .

In hindsight , and living not too far from the coast , one can only imagine the amount of drinking water being needlessly squandered due to the numerous caravan parks and holiday camps .
It doesn't bear thinking about !

Out of interest, when you squandered in camps - what are you thinking of? Paddling pools? I had never considered them as might water use places...

Severn Trent does not have a hosepipe ban, but they have reduced the pressure at peak times. It seems they can't process it fast enough, even though there is still plenty in the reservoirs.

My weather radar map shows heavy storms over Devon, Somerset and south Wales in the hour up to 5:15 so someone's getting some rain.
