Gooseberries.

I have just picked the last of my gooseberries on two plants and topped and "top and tailed them".
What I want to know now is what do I do with the plant now. Does it now need feeding cutting back or whatever to get them into a reasonable state to grow well next year.
I have  been rather lax in looking after them. The  weather has not helped first the beast. from the East, now temperatures of 31C.

I have these two Invicta gooseberry plants in large pots now. They could go in the ground  but it is difficult to find a place.  Any suggestions please.

    Personally I don't bother doing anything with them after fruiting. I let them relax for the rest of the year, prune them while dormant in the winter then mulch them with well rotted manure and tuck their roots up under some old carpet to stop the weeds. They're ready to burst into life in the spring then.
    If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
