A few here, can you help please? The first is a foxglove, but what is the name of it?Is this Ammi Visnaga?Is this wild chicory?This is a poppy, does anyone know the name of this variety?Are these both cornflowers and why the different colours?Lastly what is this "weed" growing in our wild flower patch?

    I can't help you with the flower names but I have pulled up a lot of that weed this week in an overgrown part of the garden....it hadn't gotten to the stage where the brown stalk grew

    Yes both are cornflowers, they come in lots of different colours. The weed is one of the plantains.

    1. Digitalis lutea
    2. ?
    3. Cichorium intybus, if wild, I don't know, because mine was cultivated and it bloomed like this
    4. Papaver paeoniflorum
    5. Besides these colours, there's red, pink and white
    6. A plaintain (perhaps Plantago major)

    Pic 1 looks like Digitalis lutea ; (sometimes) a short lived perennial foxglove .

    Looks like Chicory (Cichorium intybus)

    The poppy looks like Papaver somniferum 'Red Pompom' ;(Opium Poppy), very variable and cross-pollinate readily . Different forms appear every year in my garden !

    Cornflowers (Centaurea cyanus) are annuals , and come in all colours .

    The last one looks like  Plantago major (Broadleaf Plantain) , a weed to some , but not to others .

    Picture two is more likely Ammi Majus. Visnaga has a very domed shape.

    Cornflowers flowers get paler as the petals age.

    Brilliant!  Thank you for all your input, you have helped tremendously.  Some of the plants are in our garden and some from a visit to a friends beautiful garden this week, which is jam packed full of interesting plants.
