Morning, could any of you good people ID this lovely plant for me please? Spotted in Penzance and would love to get one! Thanks.

    Looks like some sort of agave but I can't be more precise. The top looks lovely but the bottom's grim! Might not be hardy north of Cornwall!

    Now now, no need to be rude.  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The owner of said plant would be really upset (possibly) to see your comments. It looks like a very, very thirsty Agave as Josusa said, to me JenC.  When they are well looked after they are super plants.

    The bottom is what you will mostly get, especially further north unless you can give it a sunny, sheltered spot where it won't freeze.   Grim doesn't begin to cover it.  I think the foliage looks strappy rather than succulent so more like one of the yucca family and in desperate need of some TLC, as is its smaller pal on the right.
