Acer Crimson Queen with purple sycamore style seed?

Do any Acer experts here know ... is this normal?  Could it be sycamore rootstock doing something weird?

Sycamore is Acer pseudoplatanus.   Your Acer is producing seed. Being an Acer it is similar to sycamore seed.

if you can collect the seed when its ready and sow it in autumn you'll hopefully get new plants growing next year, you might even get a new variety!
  • Thanks guys, yes I noticed a couple of these seeds on a mature crimson queen which we moved back in January and which has been (extremely) thin on foliage after a bit of bark damage and some lost root system … is it a good sign if a suffering tree produces a seed ??
