Loosestrife or Teucrium ... or something else ?

DovefromaboveDovefromabove Posts: 88,147
A friend on the cooking forum has posted this pic ... she said one person says it's Purple Loosestrife, another says it's Teucrium chamaedrys ... to me the leaves look like loosestrife, but the flower spike isn't what I expect to see.

Anyone want to ID it?

Sorry, this is the best pic we can do.

Looks more like a salvia  - caradonna or sylvestris. Someone with better knowledge on fuzzy pics will be along soon!

    Stachys sylvatica possibly?

I can see the similarity @Ladybird4 ...  I've not seen one with such a packed flower spike ... but of course that's not to say it can't exist  :)

I don't think it is Teucrium or Loosestrife. Possibly an Agastache. Giant Hyssop/Korean Mint.

Its horrid smell might give it away.

Agastache seems likely, not Purple Loosestrife or Teucrium chamaedrys or Stachys sylvatica.

The leaves are quite like my blue hyssop. It’s definitely not loosestrife, I’ve got that in my pond. In fact, blowing it up I would say hyssop.
