Lipstick not in common use here, toothpaste occasionally or daughters vivid shower gel  ;)

Very cool. I keep a pen pot in the bathroom and make notes on bathroom stationary!

A bar of soap on a mirror works well for bathroom scribble in our house 😁.
I shan't be experimenting or telling him plastic is better than cardboard, otherwise he'll want me buying those root trainers Lyn recommends.

Those root trainers are brilliant, the roots go straight down, instead of curling round and round.  Mine are in their 7 th year, I know! It’s more plastic, but they do last if you’re careful. Very good for sweet peas and runner beans, buy the deeper of the two options.

Or, Kitty2, you could try a few treats in plastic cups yourself?

Lyn, it's the being careful bit that holds me back sharing info on root trainers. I fear they'd be single use only with my 'bull in a china shop'. Also don't want to encourage him into gardening too much, he's planted two pumpkins in my tiny garden this year and they're taking over 😨.

    Selfish of me?  Hmm...maybe 😉

I used the middles from kitchen roll, cut in half, as they are fatter, and they worked very well for me. The things that went in loo roll, when I ran out weren't quite so good and it was harder to keep the moisture levels up. Possibly just not the best year for lots of things. Having a real job keeping any of them alive at the moment!

Aha @Buttercupdays, I must add kitchen roll middles to my list for my experiment, although I get those from the big green W as well. Best get a couple of others as a control  :)

Know what you mean about keeping stuff alive, cross my fingers for us both!

My newly planted geums are dying, despite a lot of watering. It was the wrong time of year to put them in, in full sun, it seems.
