Artificial grass bugs
Hi everyone. New to the forum.
We have had artificial grass for around a year now and yesterday we spotted some very small black bugs all over the paddling pool which I left on the grass overnight (without water). I was very surprised to see so many of them and wondered what they were as we have a 2 year old and a 5 week old so bit concerned about being on the grass with them now.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

I was born on a farm over sixty years ago and was laid on the lawn to gaze up at my toes as I waved them in the air. My children have done the same.
The UK is not full of dangerous animals and insects. Those little pollen beetles or whatever they are will not harm your family.
The alternative is to keep them indoors 24/7 .... that is much more dangerous for their health.
I'm sorry if that sounds harsh ... I'm sure you just want to keep your family safe ... but I just don't understand how people in the UK have become so disconnected from real life ... it feels like a tragedy

You're right about something, I think you've got heatstroke 😂
It's understandable you're worried Craig, but the truth is - you have no need to be. There are very few insects or creatures in and around our gardens that will ever harm us.
My oldest had a little friend [many, many years ago] who was frightened of butterflies, and ran away every time one came near her. It's stuck with me because I thought it was so sad. It's nice to spend some time with our children when they're young - showing them how lovely all these little things are. Even my youngest [who is almost 21] laughed at the young magpie earlier who was up on the back steps trying to nick the strawberries
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
