so continuing on from my last post and with the mystery animal identified, I just wanna ask what the best method is to get rid of wood pigeons from the garden. I've looked up a lot of methods and scaring things on the net but the reviews for them say that a lot of them fail to work well. Anyone had any experience or tested pigeon products and know which one would be best to use to get rid of em effectively ? My garden has basically turned into there bathroom.... Gross.... we don't leave anything out for them so I can't see whats attracting them but any help would be very much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

    Do what I did and invest in a good .22 air-rifle .
Along with other things , they're officially classified as vermin !

How many pigeons do you have in the garden? Are they nesting in your trees?

And they taste nice which is a bonus.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

A small yappy dog. Preferably your own.
I do have a dog though it's a large breed. I'm not keen on small breeds.... Also them pigeons occur erly mourning, not even the dog is up nor am I!

I don't actually know how many there are as I don't see them.all I see is what they leave behind >o< I think they came from the neighbours as they used to have a lot of pigeons.... I think some are in the trees as I see feathers lying about.

Goshawks can kill pigeons. Found  magpie feathers and a dead woodpigeon in my garden and was told by a BTO member that there are goshawks in the neighbouring forest that were likely to be responsible. Probably not allowed to buy one though!

Female sparrowhawks can take down a woodpigeon too. You might not be able to buy a real bird but plastic ones are available. I don't know how effective they are though.

If your neighbors have the pigeons then there is not an awful lot you can do about them. Has it only recently become a problem?

I find that wood pigeons choose where they hang out ... if you don't want them around you can stop feeding the birds, chop down any trees and hedges, remove all fences and perching places ........... and then they'll take up residence on your roof. :D

Occasionally the  local sparrowhawks and peregrines  come and take one from here, but get rid of pigeons .... impossible ... my brother's a farmer and even he, with guns, pigeon scarers and dogs at his disposal can only move them along temporarily.

The hundreds of rabbits on his farm don't seem to be harmed by them  ;)

I've heard of people having some success by sticking childrens' toy windmills randomly around their gardens. Worth a try perhaps

We have seaside windmills on our runner bean teepee and that stops them perching on top of it ... it doesn't stop them perching on the fence next to it tho.  You'd have to have windmills at every couple of feet along the fence to stop that.
