Leafy problem

My customer brought in this leaf from a magnolia tree and wonders what is causing the problem. She says there is nothing visible and has sprayed with bug spray.  I am sure someone will know what it is!

It looks a bit like sawfly damage, but I don't have any magnolias, so not sure if they're susceptible.
I'm sure someone here will know

Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit.
Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.
  • Thanks Pete8, how would she treat if sawfly?

Provado Ultimate Bug Killer would do it I imagine.
But best not to do anything until you know what the problem is.
It may be vine weevils or maybe slug/snail damage
I'm not familiar with magnolias, so don't really know
