I've had to harvest a clump of comfrey, so the heucheras have now temporarily taken over (until the next clump of comfrey is in flower, I expect. :D )
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

My climbing hydrangea seems to be attracting the most bees this week..

May I ask how long have you had the climbing Hydrangea @LeadFarmer
I love it. I planted one against an old tree stump about 3 years ago and it’s flowered for the first time this year, but still only a small plant yet.

My large Rhodadendrons were the bee favourite last month, now it’s Hebe and will soon be Lavender.
My garden and I live in South Wales.
  • The Himalayan Honeysuckle has always been the big attraction in our garden. We have now moved house & only have cuttings to start again with but the flowers it produces are like masses of bells. The bees are extremely happy on it, even when it was being pruned!

I've had it a good few years actually, can't recall exactly how long. At a guess maybe 5 yrs. It has always lived in that planter that I made, and has always thrived. It's East facing. It's a lovely plant and I'm surprised it has grown so well being in planter. I have never changed the soil, though each spring I add some fish/blood/bone, growmore etc, and add an inch or so of new compost. I keep it very well watered, which it must like?

Knautia macedonica. They are on both the crimson red form and the pastels, but they seem to prefer the red.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

Currently they are loving the Lambs ear and Chive flowers. Last year they were all over the lavender. They don't seem to like the Fuchsia Bush I bought which was swarming with bees in the garden centre when I got it
