In Episode 10 his potted apricot tree had bacterial canker. He removed the tree and reused the soil in the pot to plant an olive tree. Some soil was removed to a trug and loam was added and mixed in. The olive was planted and the soil/loam mixture was used to top it off. Not sure if that is what you recall seeing but it rained today and I was catching up on past shows so thought maybe
Also, in Episode 5 Nick recommends revitalizing potting soil in an old container with FBB or a granular slow release product. He doesn't give amounts.
PS I've boogered up my neck painting house trim so have old episodes of GW on as background noise while I putter in the house and happened to catch this clip. I'm not normally so knowledgeable on GW.
