Definitely a medium/large bird - Id plump for woodpigeon. The birds are up at about 3-4am at the moment so thats why you wont be seeing the culprit

    Depends what they're eating.
With gulls I'd rather not know. :s
In Cornwall it's mainly pasties and ice cream  .... occasionally mine  :'(

I looked why bird poop has white bits in it, and this is what I find:

"Birds, unlike mammals, don't produce urine. Instead they excrete nitrogenous wastes in the form of uric acid, which emerges as a white paste. And uric acid doesn't dissolve in water easily."

It had never occurred to me, in my many decades, that I had never seen a bird pee. Just goes to show. Something.

I've had a pet lizard since I was 12. They do the same thing and it makes it very easy to clean up after them as you can basically pick up their 'wee' when it dries into lumps.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
  • Thank you to everybody ! We think the pigeons came to our garden from next door :/ and they've turned our garden into there bathroom :/ yuck.. I'm gonna start a new discussion on what's best way to get rid of em as I've looked up a lot of products but there reviews seem to be crap... :/
note : I dunno how to mark the discussion as solved ( if possible ?)

They're birds ... they're wildlife ... they'll move on and come back ... our garden has pigeons sitting in the trees and perching on the fence and walking about on the lawn looking self important ... don't really see a problem :) ... if they were the size of cows there'd be a problem  :open_mouth:

  • There pooping all over the lawn! There using it as a bathroom! And I don't want to lift or stand in the poop from the birds it's gross. I want to keep the lawn poop free!
Also the poop can harbour bird flu and out diseases ew... Maybe I'm OCD but I don't want me lawn ruined :/

I'd rather have wildlife than a pristine lawn, it's more relaxed, no stress, let the world go by

    In the sticks near Peterborough
  • See I let me rabbits on the lawn but because of how nice much pigeon poop there's on it now there's very little clean areas for the rabbits to go out :( I don't want the rabbits to get anything (cross contamination, if you know what I mean) as the bacteria from birds poop is very dangerous to rabbits. Also I'm worried Incase the dog got something or if he stupidly ate it :/ he rolled in it the other day and I had to wipe it off him... Gross. I watch to rabbits and dog and fish to relieve stress.... But the rabbits will soon have no uncontaminated grass. I can't risk putting them on an area that the pigeons pooped as rabbits can go very ill extremely quickly.
sry I'm rambling! I know it's not an animal forum but you see why I don't what the pigeons pooping
