Sowing Aquilegia Seeds

BenDoverBenDover Posts: 488
Picked some Aquilegia seed pods that were still 'in the green' from a friends garden a few weeks ago as liked the flowers (although risk that they won't come true).  Brought them home to dry off and the pods gone brown and seeds extracted.  If I sow now will they grow or do they need to go thru' a period of dormancy / cold before they'll germinate?

In the green sounds a bit dodgy. Seeds mostly need to mature on the plant before being dried off. But sow them now, fresh, and leave them somewhere sheltered. They will germinate soon if they are going to germinate. I have germinated fresh seed, quickly
and also saved it and sowed mid winter, both successful.
