Decimating anemones and California poppies...

More damage, probably some kind of aphid?  The blue is odd though - could their be seeds in these?

Can I use rose clear, or is some other spray needed?

Can’t see the top photo clearly, dark and a bit blurred, but the seeds are in the head in the bottom photo, they have to be black and rattling on the plant before they are ready for picking or sprinkling.

You've got an ant farm. The ants protect from predators and 'milk' the aphids for honeydew.

Yes, I think you’re right.  After I found the rose with ants and aphids I’ve tried to keep the bed wet to discourage them.

If these are the same critters, the rose clear should work right?

Are they doing any real harm? Just keep the area moist - that will get the ants to move on. Much better than killing the wee beasties.

Well I don’t know what’s going on but there is some good left in them!

First one I’ve seen the poppies flower - I was expecting California yellow(!)

Take your pic. There's quite a few aphid species that have a bit of a bluey colour. Soapy water is a good control if you need to save the plants.

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
