How long before this Camelia might flower?

JetmorganJetmorgan Posts: 79
I had this Camelia in my border for a long while. I had dug it up as it was rarely producing any flowers and any that did flower were half hearted and didn't last for very long. As it was in a clay soil I thought it wasn't getting the conditions it liked. It was also very shady in the corner. So I dug it up about 2 years ago and put it in a large pot with plenty of ericaceous compost. At first it seemed to be okay but we then had a lot of blustery weather and it got very battered and I thought I have lost it. So I cut it right back with the intention of digging it up and replacing it. However some months later I noticed after the cut back it was sprouting new leaves and this year it is looking a lot more healthy as well. But how long before it might flower again?

It makes its flower buds in the summer for next year and it is vital that it is kept very well watered during that time. Some tomato feed wouldnt go amis. It needs ericaceous soil and only rainwater.

Realistically, it will be the year after and not next year if you cannot see any signs of budding now. Normally, you can see the very early signs now, on the tips of branches.
