Holes in the ground??

Hi All, I have had my new Allotment since March & I cleared it and put in ground level beds, but just recently i have noticed my Beans, Peas & some flowers(like Peonies) being uprooted with the roots waten? And holes in the beds? I thought it might be moles as i have seen two mole hills in the flower bed but these holes are only small and not big enough for moles, yet my polytunnel is ok apart from my Cucumber dying, any ideas? Help please, i want something left to eat? Connie

Could be voles.  Could you post some pictures of the holes?

Mole holes are surprisingly small. If you have them in the area, they would be my first suspects. Rats come second but rodents don't usually do much root damage - it is accidental rather than predatory. Badgers and foxes, cats and dogs all dig up your stuff: badgers eat some and the rest just poo on it.

It sounds like voles to me, I have had the same problem in the past, they love peas and beans!

Hi All, i have got down to my plot today to find 4 of my Cabbages uprooted? But no sign of a mole hill though, only little holes a inch across scattered acroos the ground level bed? And some more small wholes amongst my sweetcorn? I am baffled as to what it is or how to deal with it? It is a gated site so can’t be dogs or cats

Any chance you could post a photo or two? That would really help.  :)

I wonder if you have two invaders? Mice and voles make tiny holes but they can't shift cabbages. Moles don't always make hills and badgers can tackle most fences. Fascinating!

Yep, I think it is all really strange? The roots of the cabbages hadn’t been eaten either? I have them uner nets because of birds, I will take a pic later when i go to water
