Rose (?) in need of help

Hello! This is my first post! I realize I'm a completely neophyte and I humbly ask for your very expert assistance. Last year, I was cleaning a corner of my yard (which had been very much neglected by the previous owners) and I found what looked to me a rose plant. I replanted it in a spot where I hoped it would have more sun. I'm not sure if it was the right spot (very close to some aggressive dailies - but I didn't know back in the fall!). Regardless, I just don't know what I have to do to help this poor plant which really doesn't look like it's doing very well...I'm not even sure what it is (a bush? a rambler?). Any help or suggestion will be welcome with sincere gratitude and apologies for my complete ignorance...!

    I think it is a rose! Your rose looks a bit nibbled by something? But other than that the leaves actually look healthier than my rose. I'm sorry I can't help much but if it were me I'd wait till it's dormant and lost all its foliage around autumn and move it to a place with better air circulation and enrich the soil with organic matter like well rotted manure or garden compost. They are hungry plants and need watering. But they do ok in my clay soil. They do get pests attack them at times like greenfly but just keep a close eye and if needed spray with rose clear or bug spray. Mine is also prone to black spot on the leaves but it doesn't seem to affect the flowers. I have roses in full sun most of the day and some in part sun/shade and they're all ok. Check out online or on GW website how to care for roses and it should give you more details of what you can do and how to do it. Good luck as roses are lovely especially if they're the scented kind.

    Thank you Bagpuss57! I did put some compost especially designed for roses in the spring. I think I'll remove a couple of the daililies to give it more air circulation as you suggested. At the moment, I just can't think of a better sunny spot where to put it, so  I will try and leave it where it is, but I think I should water it more often. Next Monday, I will have a delivery of 1500 live ladybugs which I hope will help with aphids or whatever is nibbling the leaves. They're mostly for the vegetable garden but I will definitely put several near this rose.  I'm not sure if I should help the plant with wire, stake it or leave it be. I see no sign of buds, yet. But if I ever do get an actual flower, I'll be the happiest person on earth. My children are betting on the colour...I love roses but never had one. I recently planted a New Dawn climbing rose which I've desired for years and now I have 5 buds. I'm so excited. I can't wait to smell it!
