Plant / weed ID please

Hi
Im not sure what this is. I’ve been watching it grow in the hope that it would show some features that would make identification possible. However, I think I may need help with this one....

    That looks like Persicaria Maculosa, Redshank.

    Persicaria maculosa - usually thought of as a weed, but according to Wikipedia, can be used to treat diarrhoea and infection, leaves and young shoots are palatable and nutritious and it can be used to make a yellow dye. Sounds rather useful!
