Laurel Hedge promlem

Shaun GShaun G Posts: 2
Hello all, i'm having some issues with some of the cherry laurels I planted. They are into their 3rd summer and were planted bareroot winter time. I planted approx 30 overall but I now have 6 plants that aren't doing so great. Their leaves appear distorted and withered. New shoots have grown normally then distorted shortly after. I am sure this could be something simple and no doubt will involve chopping them down a bit. Any help greatly appreciated. Also the bamboo fence is a temporary measure. There is a major road at the other side of it. Many thanks.

The plants are fine, and some of the individual plants look to be suffering from possible bacterial shot-hole, a common problem with Cherry Laurels. You can prune off the damaged areas and in time, they will recover. In the meantime, make sure you keep the cuttings and dead and fallen leaves away from the base. Clean blades well after any prunings. You can prune your shrubs down a bit to encourage more branching. Feed your plants with a general fertiliser if you haven't already.
