Identifying possible Manuka?

Hi all

I’ve been growing manuka plants from seeds (initially in fridge now in pots for last 1 year). Only two survived the frost (was late getting inside!) but are thriving. My only worry is that I’m accidentally growing a different plant and was hoping for some reassurance by people in the know!

please see pictures of them just about flowering last week. From google images  it’s reasonably likely but not sure!

any help is massively appreciated thank you

I'm assuming it's the Tea tree (Leptopsermum Scorparium) you are trying to grow? The photos don't look like Leptospermum to me, but more like a Willowherb Epilobium Lactiflorum or maybe Parviflorum.

Are the leaves quite soft to touch? The Tea Tree plant tends to be quite sturdy. Although I have never seen a young plant before. Let’s see what others think.

I agree with Borderline. The flowers of Manuka are very different to those shown in your pictures.

  • Thanks for your replies. Yes I agree it’s looking like they’re not manuka - more likely willowherb as you say. Thanks for your help - have planted them now as quite pretty now flowering so put them in little gap we had.
