Hi, relative gardening newbie - I have lots of these plants growing on a neglected bank at the side of our new house, and would like to work out what they are before deciding whether to remove or move elsewhere.  Any ideas?  Seem to be pretty resilient and speedy growers.

    Looks like Laurus nobilis to me. Commonly know as a bay tree.

    They look like Cherry Laurel. Possibly Prunus Laurocerasus Otto Luyken, a lower growing variety.
