Rhodondenrodon

Unfortunately, I cant put a picture on here, I have a rhododendron growing in a side border, plenty of shade, damp soil, there were quite a few rhodos growing here when we moved in, so they are happy with the acidity of the soil.  For good measure I added a good amount of ericacious compost when I planted.  A few days ago, noticed the leaves have all turned downwards, and are soft and floppy, feeling "thin", similar to how the leaves on "Moth" orchids can go.  We had one in a pot do this, so threw it away, does anyone know what is causing this?

Is it thirsty?  The weather's been quite warm and dry

Is this a newly planted shrub Nanny?  Your planting conditions sound good, it could simply be finding it's feet. Has it had plenty of water?

If it's an established shrub. Is it the whole plant or just part of it? I'm wondering about a bit of stem damage possibly being the cause.

Have you checked for any signs of pest or disease?

Its in an area of "woodland" planting, by the bungalow, almost always in the shade, soil damp, primulas, astibes, cant see any sign of any insects, have managed to ring the problem solving line of Garden News, he thinks the rootball dried out after planting, it was put in a few months ago, it was (or so I thought!) well watered, he says dig it up examine the roots, he reckons it hasnt put down any new ones to get the moisture out of he soil.  Plant in a pot of ericacious compost, keep completely in the shade water copuously and see if it improves, though he doesnt think it will.Annoying, I have some estalished ones in full sun all day which hardly get watered!
