How to grow pumpkins and melons

Mags2Mags2 Posts: 35
Have just planted lots of melons and pumpkins.  Do not have a clue how to cultivate them.  I believe you have to pinch them out after they have developed around 5 true leaves.  Any advice would be much appreciated.  Oh also courgettes.  Many thanks.

I've only grown melons once (and got one fruit) so I will not comment, but pumpkins I allow to roam unless you are trying for a monsterthen they need more care and then you should have started months ago, they do not need pinching out, I would only do so if they get too big. (my giant pumpkin vines managed 20m long!)
Courgettes don't need anything doing to them, with all these big plants, plenty of compost or manure before planting and lots of water until they get established is all I do.
