Is this a yucca and a related query

DyersEndDyersEnd Posts: 730

I inherited this plant when I moved to this house and I assumed it was a yucca but having looked at pictures of them when flowering I'm not so sure.  If it isn't, what is it?
I took the photos a good few days ago and now the bees, hover flies etc. have stopped visiting and it's gone brownish I'm wondering whether I can cut the flower off and chuck it in the compost bin.
Thanks in advance.

Complete guess but it looks like a cordelyne?

It's a cordyline . They don't flower often but they do have a wonderful flower head. If it has gone brown, cut it off as near to the stem as you can.

Thank you everyone.  It has been rather abused as it's feet were buried under a layer of weed suppressant stuff with a very thick layer of 'decorative' stones on top all of which has been removed and some well rotted horse manure plonked round it instead. It already has a second stem from near the base Freddie Dad so I hope it doesn't branch again. It's days may be numbered if it does as I'm not than keen on it in the first place.
