Help please - light patches on Cosmos leaves

The Cosmos in the centre of the picture has developed light patches on the leaves. Does anyone know what the cause would be and what I should do please? It is Cosmos "Lemonade" grown from seed. I had this issue with a few of my Cosmos last year; they developed these light patches on the leaves, didn't thrive, then gradually turned brown and died.

I would be very grateful for any advice.

Are you watering in the heat of the day? It looks like sunscorch. I would give them a good soak in the evenings.

... and try to water the soil not the plants

Thank you. Usually water in evening or early morning but will try to avoid the leaves.
