    The awns of  Meadow Barley can be a particularly bad problem for dogs.  Check your dog's ears, eyes and pads in particular after running around in an area where this grass is growing.

    Yes Dove, I had a poodle, beardie cross and it cost me £70 20 years ago to get the seeds out of his ears. In the end I fashioned a sort of hair net over his ears out of tights.

    I've known grass awns to go up inside the claw sheath and cause awful pain and infections.   :'(

  • Thanks for the link Dove - have you used this company?  I would rather have some foxtail/meadow barley growing in my wild flower meadow than some of the grasses that we have at present.
