Finster we started our new pond early last year and bought quite a lot of plants for it, putting them in the appropriate places in the pond. Within two days a couple of ducks appeared and ate most of the oxygenating plants. After that we thought all was well but the marginals started to die after being in the pond for a few weeks. We were devastated as we had spent quite a lot of time deciding which plants would look best in the pond. We removed most of the "dead" plants but left a few of the baskets in the pond over the winter. Miraculously some of the "dead" plants have come back to life - not only that but they are bigger and better this year than when we first put them in the pond. So I am sure the comments on here are correct - the plants are adjusting and acclimatizing to your pond and will thrive once they have settled into their new environment.
Thanks so much for that, it’s very encouraging! I will leave well alone apart from removing the dead hornwort- it’s literally brown and dessicated, falling apart and is just a vehicle for algae. There’s still some that is clinging on and will order some fresh bundles too.
