Little White Pet with pink flowers!

ThankthecatThankthecat Posts: 421
I've got Little White Pet growing from a cutting I took a few years ago. It's flowering for the first time and some of the blooms are bright cerise pink, while others are white. Some have actually come out with both colours blotched on the same flower. What's causing this and can I change it or will the plant always do this?

This is getting ridiculous - so far I've had just two white flowers, all the others have been bright pink and I have no idea why. Has anyone got any suggestions? I thought if it were a sport then all the flowers would be the same. Looks like viruses usually cause blotched flowers. Help?!

Would it be a Salvia Hot Lips by any chance.? The flower depends on the temperature.

It's not a rose I've grown, but from these two websites it appears that pink is often involved .

This is nothing to worry about and quite normal for this rose. Some early blooms will be more pink, it can also depend on the temperatures.   You have to remember that this rose is a dwarf sport from a rambler called 'Felicite et Perpetue', which is a blush pink/white rose, so it will get its colouration from its parent.  Sometimes you will see a mixed reversion too.    Just enjoy your rose, there's nothing wrong...

Aha. Not a rose that I had heard of.

Just to give you an example of how rose blooms can change colour.  This is my 'Ghislaine de Feligonde' rambling rose.  It is normally apricot/white, but the first blooms were pink [there is a pink version of this rose]..
The same blooms reverted to their normal colour literally overnight...

My Little White Pet usually buds as pink then turns white as they open.  I also have Winchester Cathedral (which is a sport of its parent Mary Rose a pink one). I often have white flowers, pink flowers and some half and half!  Makes it interesting.
