I saw my first toad for years in my garden last night. I'm so glad they are back. An emotional moment. So now frogs and toads are resident in my little urban patch. A great moment. I was out catching slugs and made a grab for a long, slimy thing under one of my planter, where the slugs live. It jumped at me and we both had a hell of a shock. I really hope I didn't hurt it. Such beautiful creatures.
Yes, there is a barrier between the wall and the soil, Josusa , we have to be careful both inside and out as the walls are solid ham stone and need to be able to breathe. At the back of the house we have climbers in large plastic pots which have had the bottoms cut out and then dug in to ground level. That way they can put their roots down but below the level of the building. (At least that's the theory ) however our neighbours further up the road had to destroy their wisteria when it started coming up through the floorboards!
Last year I took a cutting of a friend's wallflower as i loved it. And i was very surprised when I went out in spring and it had taken. This is it now. It's the 1st cutting iveI taken that has grown 😁 proud gardener moment.
First successful cutting or grown from seed is always treated like we gave birth to it almost! 😊 I'm always extra proud of those SillyTilly 😁 I'm proud of my whole garden not because it's an amazing garden but because it used not to be a garden and now it's a haven for me and many animals and birds. For a small garden in the centre of Ipswich, it's like walking into another world when you walk through the gate, you would never know it's there but the hedgehogs have found it and that's what I'm most proud of! The fact that nature loves my garden makes me love it even more! 😁
I just harvested my first ever new potatoes. It was a proud moment! I've never grown veg before except for tomatoes.
There's currently a blackbird sitting in my amelanchier tree eating the berries and a sparrow hopping between the tree and the bird feeder. I've been trying to attract birds since we moved in 3 years ago, seems like planting the tree did the trick!
I'm proud of my roses, we moved here 5years ago front& back garden 7 metres by 4 front is all planting just path in middle, I've planted 28 varieties of rise, all old or David Austin, this year they are really getting into their stride but the very strong wind really damaged a lot last week, half are very floppy& hanging their heads, so am not at all proud of my supports( of anything, I can't seem to do a good job of supporting or training! )on z happier note I'm v proud of everything I've down from seed, sweet wills, wallflowers, sweet rocket, tomatoes, lots of yummy salad leaves too 😊

It's leaning slightly after the wind from Hector. I can't decide whether to stake it or not.
