Hardy climber ideas

Bagpuss57Bagpuss57 Posts: 256
I am considering a pergola for helping with privacy and have already have had some good ideas from the forum for screening and to use climbers. I like the idea of tracleospermum jasminoides (not sure of the spelling) but can anyone tell me if it's hardy and will it survive in our winters (south West) where things seem to be getting colder each year! If so what conditions would it need? And how do I look after it, does it need pruning, when is the best time to plant? I thinking of planting it in a deep raised bed and up posts as I am working on clay! Other hardy scented climber ideas welcome as I also have a trellis that needs covering.

They are quite hardy plants. Can take minus eight roughly. If planted near a southerly wall, the roots will be more protected. They should be fine for where you are.
