It's my first time growing cosmos from seed and I'm wondering are they ready to plant out yet?

If you pinch out the top, they will branch and you will have more flowers.

Cosmos update - so far out of all my plants I've only had one of them develop 1 flower bud. I followed advice and nipped the ends off. At what point should I start seeing more buds?

In really hot weather, such as we've had / are having, plants conserve energy by NOT growing. Maybe this is the case?
I'm sure they'll be fine in their own good time.

I nip off buds , still am, so that I will have them flowering in September when other stuff is going over.  If you want flowers now, don’t pick off anymore.  It takes three weeks for a plant to make new buds after picking out, so yours should be getting ready now.

So if I keep nipping it will it stay low but produce more flowers. But if I stop nipping will it be taller with less?

Mine shot off as soon as they went into the ground, despite great care and nursing and potting on....I'd put them out earlier if I did it again, but I'm thinking I'll scatter seeds outdoor next year

"I'm thinking I'll scatter seeds outdoor next year ".

Would they make it past the slugs? No chance where I am.

Some of my cosmos have flowered and are still flowering. But others just don't seem to be getting any buds on. Will they or will they just be foliage?
