Damaged Cosmos

Hi all fellow Gardener's  I need some advice.  
I was planting a Chocolate Cosmos and noticed the plant had come away from the main plant. (Nearly cried) I have continued to plant my Cosmos will the damageday part re-root?

    It's quite hard to imagine exactly what's going on with your Cosmos.  Could you post a photo on here so we can see it?  Then hopefully someone can give you advice.   :)
