leaning Golden rain tree after storm hector

Hi, my previously straight Golden rain train, is now leaning after storm hector, no roots are visible so don't think its too badly damaged.  I've  temporary propped him up with a bit of 2 by 4 and a bag a compost. But looking for some guide on how to prop the tree up more permanently. I've googled the mater but seem to get results about staking and the pictures seems to be smaller trees and newly purchased trees.

I don't mean to obtrude here , but that is not a 'Golden Rain' tree , which is a deciduous broadleaf tree native to Asia (Koelreuteria paniculata) .
Yours looks like a conifer of some description ; difficult to ID from the picture , but an attractive tree in its own right !

It is a golden rain tree, not a conifer. There are a few varieties but I think it could be a  ‘Laburnum x Watereri Vossii’ tree.

The silvery pendulous seed pods post flowering are probably what draws people to its conifer like appearance.

Yes ; obviously my mistake !
  • It is possible to prop up leaning trees using a padded collar around the trunk and a stake driven in at an angle to push the tree upright. It would be necessary to leave the tree for 2 or 3 years to give it time to stabalise before removing the prop. The collar should also be checked annually and loosened slightly if required.

I have used this method in the past to prop up an apple tree and also a large branch on a witchhazel which was damaged by a falling tree. I  bandaged the witchazel with gaffa tape to hold the branch in the correct position, plus propping it, it took several years for the tear to heal completely and the tree survived for several more years, it was very old.
