Fatsia japonica

Hi, I'm new to gardening this is my second year. My fatsia was developing very fast, but about 3 weeks ago two new leaves got a little black sticky bug that kept coming back, both leaves grew small and disform, I added well rotted compost and sprayed it with soapy water, now there's a couple of new leaves that got the bug already and are not growing. What can I do? Thank you

Can you post a picture? What are the bugs? Can you brush away the bugs with your fingers? If they are aphids you just need to remove them regularly.

I've been trying to post picture, without joy. I can rub them away yes, tiny black sticky things, also been googling to see what they are for days, nothing like it. 😑. They've eaten the last leave around the edges, no holes.
