ORNAMENTAL GRASSES

Hi there - I wonder if anyone can give some advice.  Some of our ornamental grasses have been beaten over by strong winds yesterday and I was wondering will they come back or should I just clip them back to where the stalk have been bent (not actually snapped).   Thanks

Which grasses are you talking about please?  personally I would want to know the full variety names before giving any advice.  Thank you..

Hi Marlorena - I knew that would be perhaps be needed.  unfortunately I have no idea. all I can say is they are not specialised or particularly ornate grasses, they have tufts on the top that look very similar to tiny pampas tops but very much smaller of course.  They are fairly hardy as can take a lot of "combing" through with hands (wearing gardening gloves of course!).

IMHO , as it's only mid June, I'd say they have plenty of time to bounce back.
If you can post a photo it might help.

Hi hostafan1.  I was thinking the same actually, just cut them back to the point of bending and hope for the best !!!  I will have to cut the other side to match.   blasted winds !  Cheers Kirsten

I'd not rush out with the shears/ secateurs just yet. Leave them a few days to see if they perk up.
