Keep Annabelle hydrangeas white?

I have a massive bank of Annabelles that do not stay white for very long--they turn back to pale green after roughly three weeks.  Any ideas on how to encourage the blooms to stay white?

  • @senoritaa_n_kc,..sadly this is the norm for the Annabelle,..this color change tends to happen after the bloom of white is about two weeks old.

  • They are 18 years old and used to stay white for two to three months--I transplanted them five years ago and still stayed white until two years ago.  Any thoughts?
  • You might find something to console you in the reading on Annabelle in the link below,

I grow about five species of Hydrangea,..some change to green for no reason that i have ever heard of.

Have other plants/trees changed around them? Are they in more or less shade than previously?
