Problem with Rowan Tree

I planted a Rowan about 2 years ago and this is the first any leaves have appeared but only a few right at the bottom. The rest of the tree looks dead.

    Yep.. looks pretty dead.  I would trim it down into healthy wood above the current leaves.  Hopefully it will grow back to that height in a few years.  Remove the canes and stakes, it won't need them again.  The new growth will be well supported by the established roots.  If it starts to sicken again, get us some images of the leaves so perhaps we can help diagnose the issue.

    I will do, thanks for your advice. Should I feed it in the meantime and if so what’s best?
